Succeeding Succession

You may be wondering what the title to my current post means. Well, suffice it to say 'Elementary dear Watson' (properly or improperly attributed to Mr Holmes?): I have recently been asked to take on the Law of Succession as a lecturer. The Law of Succession. That is something new to me as I did not elect to undertake it as a subject during my years as a law student. However 'come what may' (and such a lovely song with that title too) I am actually looking forward to it. I look at it as a challenge, another avenue to improve my expertise (and I need a lot of improvement) as a Law Lecturer, a supposed imparter of knowledge and legal skills (haha).
Succession is actually (and conveniently) tied in to another subject I lecture (and actually enjoy more now as a teacher as compared to as a student): Equity and Trusts. Trusts Law (as it is referred to also) touches on the intricacies of making a trust (the relationship of settlor/testator [one who makes a settlement or a will, through which one passes their property to another/others] with a trustee [the person who holds the property - tangible or intangible] for the beneficiary [ka-ching, ka-ching]) while Succession dictates what happens in the case of 'property after death situations' (wills, etc.). Sounds kinda morbid huh? But they are in actual fact very practical subjects. I mean who can carry wealth over to the other side? Better to be content and live life the way the Lord God wants you to as compared to hoarding it and losing it in the end. After all '... godliness with contentment is great gain.' (1 Tim 6.6). Please feel free to look up the verse. The link has already been provided :).
All the same, Succession looks to be an interesting area of the law and one that I think I will enjoy learning and teaching. The teacher will be taught. Poetic Justice?
Have a successful day.
God bless you.
